Legendary
Aircraft simplifies this area of the P-51 Mustang kit by offering
complete firewall forward packages. Legendary Aircraft can supply
a dynamometer tested and proven, complete engine / PSRU / propeller
combination. We utilize the General Motors Gen III and Gen IV, fuel
injected, aluminum, small block 400 and 427 cu. in. engine in all
of our packages. This engine is offered in two configurations, the
LS2 and the LS7.
Each
new engine is first inspected and dynamometer tested separate from
the PSRU and any Legendary Aircraft related items. After the dynamometer
work has been completed; the engine is then mated to the PSRU and
propeller. At this stage, the propeller governor and alternator
are added, a few minor engine ancillary items are modified, the
exhaust system is fitted, and the entire package, as installed in
the finished aircraft, is run-stand tested to insure that each item
as a unit, is ready for flight.
The
Legendary Aircraft Firewall Forward Package includes all of the
items needed to successfully install and run the engine combination
on a Legendary Aircraft airframe. Simply mount the firewall located
pieces on the firewall in the prescribed locations, provide the
necessary electrical hookups, attach the motor mount to the airframe,
and route several cables and lines. The engine and PSRU are delivered
already installed on the customer engine mount, ready for fuselage
mating.
