Providing the best P-51 Mustang Kit is a goal that is accomplished on a day-to-day basis, one satisfied customer at a time, by providing you with everything that you will need to complete the entire construction process of your legendary "Warbird", the P-51 Mustang.

Legendary Aircraft's kit encompasses everything you need! The P-51 composite kit, our pre-assembled and fully tested Firewall Forward Package, including our newly updated PSRU (Propeller Speed Reduction unit), are all available so that you can easily own, build and fly your very own P-51 Mustang replica for about 1/10th the purchase price and 1/20th the operating costs of the original North American Mustang.

With our focus always directed toward the constant improvement of our aircraft and the precision production of top of the line aircraft quality hardware and parts, we are always working closely with our builders, to ensure that their completed projects are both safe and reliable, Legendary Aircraft goes the extra mile to make this a fun and positive adventure for all who dream of flying their own Mustang!

The Legendary Aircraft P-51 is based on an improved version of the FEW-51 that was designed by Jim Kern and manufactured and marketed for approximately 12 years by Fighter Escort Wings (FEW). Sadly, Jim recently died in an unrelated AT-6 accident, but his legacy continues under the tutorage of a newly formed company, funded primarily by existing FEW-51 owners and builders, called Legendary Aircraft LLC.

Legendary Aircraft LLC is now under the management of Ed Hullinger who began his association with Fighter Escort Wings back in 1995 as a Mustang kit customer and builder. In 2001 Ed was brought in to redesign, and eventually manufacture a significantly improved version of the FEW PSRU (Propeller Speed Reduction Unit). This new unit is now available from Legendary Aircraft as part of its firewall forward package. At the same time Ed was building his own aircraft, and redesigning the PSRU, he gained enormous familiarity with the P-51. It was only natural that he would want to help perpetuate this outstanding kit following Jim's death.

Task Research, Inc., based in Ardmore, Oklahoma built all of the original composite parts for the FEW version of the P-51 and will continue to build composite parts for the Legendary P-51 kits. Meanwhile, Legendary Aircraft will produce the remainder of the components needed to complete your kit, including the PSRU. This will ensure the highest quality possible and good control over the delivery schedule.

Legendary Aircraft is also now in the process of establishing a customer assist program so that builders can get their sport planes out of their shops and into the air as quickly as possible.

Builders can now buy and complete a two-seat P-51 Mustang replica on their own, or they can select one of several options from Legendary Aircraft's Fast-build or Customer Assist programs. Add to that a pre-assembled and fully tested Legendary Aircraft "Firewall Forward Package" and their new kit can be flying in months rather than years. Plus, as a very special bonus, when a kit is delivered complete, Ed or another member of the Legendary Aircraft team, will personally come out to the delivery site and go through the contents of the kit to give the new builder a solid head start. This is just another way for Legendary Aircraft to prove its commitment to your satisfaction, and the development of long-term business relationships that can last generations.

Legendary Aircraft's long term goal is to continue improving the Legendary P-51 and developing other aircraft kits, based on the same proven technology used in the P-51. This includes other models of the P-51 as well as other well known and cherished WW II aircraft that employed "V-powered" engines. But don't be too surprised if a "round-engine" model or two appears in the future as well!
